Rug Design Collaboration with Hazel Fernandes

The talented Hazel Fernandes MA RCA is a distinguished artist and designer based in Leeds. Having achieved her Masters at the Royal College of Art in London, she started collaborating with high-end prestigious brands in the UK with her artworks and design portfolio. Hazel worked in fashion trends & forecasting for several years before relocating to West Yorkshire to continue working on her own unique art & design.

This design is called Obsidian. Filaments of gold, lacing over veined rock, are watched over by pale lotus sentries. Every piece is created using a fine Tibetan weave with Himalayan wools and highlights of silk. Each rug takes four skilled artisans several months to produce and every stage is entirely made by hand, under the GoodWeave license to ensure no child labour is used.
